Suspect Sought in 18th Street Shooting

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate the suspect in the attached photo who is wanted in connection with a shooting that took place last night in Shockoe Bottom.
Kieran M. Nyangaresi (age 22), who is also known as “Ron”,  is wanted on charges of attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
“The community quickly stepped up to help us identify this suspect,” said Major Crimes Sergeant Richard Edwards. “Now we’re hoping someone who knows his whereabouts will assist us in getting him off the streets.”
At approximately 11:40 p.m. on May 30, officers responded to the 200 block of North 18th Street in reference to shots fired. Within minutes they located the victim, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument.
Nyangaresi is described as a black male standing approximately 6’3” tall. He is known to frequent the campus of Virginia Union University.
