Five Shot in Whitcomb Court

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a shooting, resulting in five victims, which occurred in the city’s east end early this morning.

At approximately 2:31 a.m. officers were called to the 2300 block of Bethel Street for the report of several persons shot. When officers arrived, they came upon five victims who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Three adult males and two juvenile females were transported to a local hospital with injuries that are considered non-life threatening.

It was reported that a dark-colored Jeep SUV was traveling down the 2300 block of Bethel Street, a witness stated they then heard several shots fired into a nearby group of people. The vehicle then fled the scene.

“Detectives have been working on this case since early this morning,” said Lt. Jason Hudson. “We know there were many witnesses in the area at the time of the incident. We ask that anyone with any information to please come forward.”
