Victim Identified, Arrest Made in Powell Road Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim and the suspect involved in a homicide which occurred last night in Southside.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. last night, police responded to the 2000 block of Powell Road for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, Wayne D. Spencer, 53, of the 2000 block of Powell Road, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The suspect, Alfred V. Booker, 60, of the 2000 block of Powell Road, who was known to the victim, was arrested on scene and charged with murder. A booking photo will be released when it becomes available.
