Victim Identified in Hopkins Road Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in Saturday morning’s homicide on Hopkins Road as Melvin L. Chambliss, 52, of the 1900 block of Hopkins Road.


At approximately 1:54 a.m., officers received a call for shots fired the 1900 block of Hopkins Road. Officers arrived and found Chambliss, an adult male, down and unresponsive in the rear parking lot of an apartment complex. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
Chambliss was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
