Suspect Sought in Attempted Robbery of Taxi Driver

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the man in the attached photo, who is a suspect in an attempted armed robbery of a taxi cab driver.

Shortly before 8 a.m. this morning, the taxi cab driver picked up a man in the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. He drove the man to the 1300 block of Nelson Street, where the man displayed a silver and gray handgun and began to struggle with the driver. The driver was not injured during the incident. The suspect fled on foot into the Wynwood Apartments.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’8”- 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds. He wore a Redskins sweatshirt, light blue pants or jeans and a stocking hat.
