RPD Investigates Homicide-Suicide in Hillside Court

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide-suicide that occurred this morning in Hillside Court on the city’s south side.

Around 5 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 1600 block of Glenfield Avenue for a report of shots fired. They arrived on scene to learn an armed male suspect was inside of the residence and refused to come outside. The Richmond Police S.W.A.T. team was called to assist.

When the S.W.A.T. team entered the residence, they located the bodies of an adult female and an adult male, both of whom had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. The female victim has been identified as Shantisha L. Dortch, 29, of the 1600 block of Glenfield Avenue.

The male suspect has been identified as Brian A. Harris, 30, of the 1600 block of Glenfield Avenue. No recent photo is available.
